EDZ will again be supporting the Lakeland Festival of Light in 2018. EDZ have been supporters of the festival since its inception and were brought on board by Matt Le Voi of Lakeland Mountain Guides who organises the event.
What is the Lakeland Festival of Light?
The Festival of Light is a charity event which began in 2015. The original event was organised to raise vital funds for those suffering as a result of the Nepal Earthquake. The event has had a couple of name changes to reach its current format but in the process has raised thousands of pounds for worthwhile causes.
The event involves lighting up the Lakeland fells. Each year a fell is selected and a group of walkers are led up the fell with head torches to create a stunning formation. This year the event returns to Catbells, be prepared for some stunning views with the procession of head torches against the dark skies. Photographers are strategically placed to capture the event, with the photographs being available for sale after the event.
When & Where?
The 2018 event will be held on Saturday 5th May, starting at 6pm and expected to run until around 11pm.
There will be a raffle held on the night with some great prizes including the EDZ gift vouchers we have donated.
To take part in the event, no tickets are needed but there is a suggested donation of £20 per person which can be paid in cash on the night or in advance online. Participants are asked to bring their own head torch, these will not be provided on the night, and to dress appropriately. It is likely that participants will be standing still for a period of time in chilly conditions. Perhaps check out our quick guide to layering to ensure comfort on the big night.
Where can I find out more information?
The event is organised by Lakeland Mountain Guides and all event information can be found on their website. A Facebook Event page is also up and running which will be kept updated and can be found by clicking here.
