EDZ Merino -Everest Base Camp Review

NEPAL EVEREST BASE CAMP  -REVIEW BY FLISS TURNER

October seems a distance memory already! But 12 of us set off on a new adventure, we were heading to Everest base camp, Kala Patthar and Lobuche east, reaching 6,119 mtrs high!

With only a 15kg limit on the Lukla flight, it meant some serious light weight packing! This is where merino wool works brilliantly. EDZ Merino base layers are 100% wool, soft to the skin, comfortable to wear, machine washable, shrink resistant and durable. Suitable for all types of sports, outdoor activities & make fantastic everyday thermals.

EDZ Layering have supported Lakeland Mountain Guides over the years now and we’ve certainly put them to the test with various challenges… walking, running or bike events. They just work! They absorb the sweat and wick it away, so you don’t feel uncomfortable or wet and no odour! It really doesn’t smell! We continued the test in Nepal because our expedition was 22 days!

The Merino wear I packed….
EDZ 200gsm Merino Womens Long Sleeve Top Denim Blue.

EDZ Womens Merino Wool Base Layer Zip Neck Top Graphite with Lime.

EDZ Women’s Merino Wool T-shirt V-neck Blue 200g.

EDZ 200gsm Merino Leggings Womens Black.

EDZ Merino Wool Thermal Balaclava – Graphite Grey

Day time was really warm, so I wore the 200g T-Shirt up to Namche bazar, which starts at 3,440mtrs in the Khumbu area. After here you really felt the temperatures change between the sun, shade, day and night.

For evenings, cooler days and as we went higher, I used the long sleeved 200g top.

The winter merino wool zip neck Graphite and lime top, I used to sleep in and summit days… Base camp, Kala Patthar and Lobuche east. Same with the leggings.

I occasionally doubled the winter top with the T-Shirt for summit days because of either early starts or sunsets, it was well into the minus figures, So it gave me the flexibility to take a layer off if needed.

I love wearing the EDZ gear, it’s so comfortable and flexible in movement, easy to layer up if needed. I also use the vest tops a lot, either at work or in daily life. They can act as a warm layer under things or just as they are. I’ve also got the merino thermal balaclava for winter, its super light and comfy. A massive thanks the EDZ team for your continued support, looking forward to another year of fantastic opportunities.
